Marcques strikes gold with new album, ALYVE

When it comes to good quality sound, Marcques did not compromise if his latest album, ALYVE is anything to go by.

Marcques worked really hard on this album and he showcases maturity and experience beyond his capability on most of the tracks!

The album has proved that Marcques together with his producers have put in a lot of work too come up with what can be the best ‘grade’ of music in the Zim Hip Hop vicinity.

Though Verseless produced 95% of the tracks, to ensure variety Macques employed the services of Simba Tags and Anonzi Xndr on Manga Muripi featuring T kae Chidz and Ndiripano featuring Takura respectively.

The album is laden with slow paced jams as almost half of the albums features R’n’B artistes who have put their smooth voices to compliment Marcques’ rap skills.

Marcques starts off with Book of Mathew where he just takes us down memory lane from since he was a kid as he tries to stress out that being ALYVE is so much more than just breathing.

For those who love partying, track number four will probably be your favourite as Marcques roped in one of the best Hip Hop singers in the country, Mile on a track titled Party. Mile’s sonorous voice spiced up the song such that you can put the song on repeat all day.

The song that stood out above the rest is probably the last song on the album, Skat’ Sami. Skat’ Sami simply means my time in Ndebele and Marcques made sure that the majority of Zimbabweans can vibe to it as he showed his multi-lingo skills with the mix of Ndebele, Shona and English in the song.

Marcques stresses out the point that it’s now his time and no one can stop now. He continues to say that it was never like this in 2008 when he didn’t have sh*t and now girls are flexing with all the glitz.

Other songs on the 14 track album include; Negus Nagast, Usandigume, Arinani featuring Fluid, Mood, In loving memory featuring Kito, Irreplaceable featuring Verseless, Handimbokurasise featuring Shashl, Hapasisina chinhu featuring Verseless and Tingadini featuring Tinashe Makura.

The ‘Zunguza’ hit-maker has managed to grow a fan base not because he once dated a radio personality and despite everything that he has done, what surprised everyone is that he still managed to consistently work on new music.

We are interested in finding out what you think of the project.
